Curiosities of the Modern Art Week

You've probably heard about Modern Art Week, right? It was an artistic-cultural movement that took place on the streets of São Paulo in February 1922.


That was the most important moment in Brazilian Art history.


Together, the artists who manifested themselves aimed at a social and artistic renewal in Brazil. So, we leave here some curiosities of this manifestation so well known in the country.


1. “Os sapos” was booed: Manuel Bandeira's poem was booed by the audience at the Teatro Municipal;


2. Villa Lobos: Villa Lobos gave a musical performance and took to the stage wearing a shoe on one foot and a slipper on the other. The public disapproved of this attitude, but later it was clarified: he had a callus on his foot;


3. Duration: The Modern Art Week actually only lasted three days.
